How it works

MyWorthRank compares the number you type with how wealth is spread among adults, worldwide and in your country. It is a quick, friendly estimate meant for fun and curiosity, not a financial assessment.

Where the data comes from

We use the wealth distribution estimates of the World Inequality Database (WID), run by the World Inequality Lab at the Paris School of Economics. For every country it estimates how much wealth an adult needs to be in each percentile, from the bottom 1% to the top 0.001%. Our current figures are WID's 2024 estimates.

For the world ranking we convert your amount to US dollars with WID's market exchange rates and compare it with the global distribution.

What "wealth" means here

WID measures net personal wealth: homes, land, savings, shares, pensions and other assets, minus debts. It is counted per adult (aged 20 and over), and couples are treated as splitting their wealth equally.

To keep things quick and stress-free, we do not ask about debts. That means your rank can look a little better than the official figure, especially if you have a large mortgage. Likewise, if you type what you own together with a partner, your rank will look better than an individual comparison. For a stricter estimate, divide a shared total by two and subtract what you owe.

How precise is it?

Not very, and that is fine. Wealth is hard to measure, and for many countries WID has to estimate the distribution from other data. That is why we show a rounded rank like "top ~8%" instead of a precise percentile. The figures for each country are WID's latest estimates and are not adjusted for changes since then.
